Leadership is always dependent on the context, but the context is established by the relationships we value (Wheatley, 1992, p. 144). Peer-led Team Learning (PLTL) is a national mentoring model that began in 1995, found its way to IUPUI in 1997, and is still a thriving mentoring program. As in other mentoring programs, strong leadership is certainly a necessary foundation from which all successful mentoring endeavors grow, and the PLTL program is no different. During this session, PLTL Superleaders will guide you through a discussion about relational leadership and ways in which you as a peer mentor can gain and maintain relational leadership skills. You will walk away from this interactive session with tips to help you become a stronger peer leader by learning how to share your leadership role with your mentees. Youll discover the benefits you can reap!
