Part of a documentary made during 2005's Slapstick Festival which sees 'Withnail and I' actor Paul McGann and ex members of doo-wop band DARTS form the Matinee Idles.
This excerpt shows their triumphant appearance at Colston Hall in 2005 where they sang a capella "So Hard To Laugh" as an accompaniment to a moving short film celebrating the life and work of the late great silent comics of yesteryear. The sound was recorded on mixing desk and then synced up with the film for the doc and this short extract.
In January the Matinee Idles will be returning to Bristol for Slapstick 2012. More information and the official Slapstick Festival trailer (created by Aardman Animations) can be found here: http://www.slapstick.org.uk/
