UPDATE: Repercussions was featured in the 2007 Penn State Film Festival.

Here is a documentary that I directed for my 337 class. For those of you who don't know, on October 28, 2006, Anthony Torsell stuck two pedestrians while under the influence of alcohol. Rick Smith, 21, was killed on impact while Aaron Stidd, 20 was left in critical condition. This film illustrates the consequences of drunk driving by letting you hear from the people most affected by it. (2006)

  • I'm pretty sure the victims were jaywalking, and I beleive I read somewhere that they had also been drinking. This doesn't justify Mr. Torsells actions, however, I think this video as well as alot of the community has unfairly vilified him.

  • The last time I checked, Torsell received a smaller sentence than previously anticipated. The judge never made an example of him, so in the eyes of the law I really dont feel he was vilified. And if he was unjustly forced to serve some lengthy sentence, I really dont see the harm in it. Alcohol abuse has become commonplace at State College. Plus you have to take into account when this documentary was filmed. This project went right into production about a week after the incident.

  • I used to drink and drive for years, even to point of blacking out. That all stopped with my first DWI arrest 16 years ago. Thankfully I woke up and stopped after that without hurting anyone or myself, although I damaged my car several times. Very good video by the way.

  • i helped aaron stidd build his house

  • ..........im one of tonys good friends the fuck man....

  • Rick Smith was my best friend. Not a day goes by when I don't think about him.

  • Rick Smith was my nephew. All of us miss Rick.

  • Thanks for the video. It helps me stay in touch, living out of state...

  • I just read that Torsell's lawyer's trying to get the BAC test thrown out of court cause Torsell was "too drunk to consent to it". I'm glad a small documentary was made, it was a real tragedy. Rick and my older brother were best childhood friends, so I've known him since as far back as I can remember. He is and will always be missed.

  • I met with Mr. and Mrs. Stidd and Aaron yesterday to do a story on Aaron's progress for WPSU. I watched him shoot some hoops with his dad and kiss his mom... it was touching but so sad because I could tell that he was trapped. The pictures and icons of friends, family, interests, autographs, letters etc. that sit above his hospital bed are overwhelming, he was robbed of all of that. This video is so well put together, truely should wake some people up.
