@PaperMonicle i've only read it recently and he did, although i'm not sure if he said it when he first met Sassoon or when they got together to talk about their poems later on. really well done though by the actor, the way he portrayed Owen.
i do very much enjoy this adaptation, i feel so much more could have been done with it, so much more emotional depth, a more layered and complex portrayal of prior - though i feel sassoon and owen's relationship is done rather brilliantly, i must say. i fear rivers lacks the wonderful presence he has in the novel, however.
I love Owen's speech about the skulls in the trench and the past wars at 5:35 . However, I was wondering if this was simply something created for the film, or whether it was something Owen actually said or included in his works?
Anyway, thank you for uploading this wonderful film.
Sassoon was openly gay however Owen's orientation is a rumour, no one knows for sure, he was brought up in a very religious family so he probably is very discreet about it
Owen just admired Sassoon can we just leave it at that?
@alibrace You said "they" meaning Owen and Sassoon "came out of the closet after the war". No, Owen died in 1918 so did not come out of the closet after the war. Very simple point and you are embarrasing yourself by not grasping it. Oh, and your insults are pathetic, like a child.
@alibrace the fact that you don't realise Owen died in the war kind of undermines any "insights" you feel you might be able to offer - as you clearly haven't bothered to learn anything about the people involved

@THthefirst Yet his notes were uncovered in 1925 and Sassoon came openly about his male relationships. Cry me a fucking river dickstain.
