Recap of the Matco Tools Supernationals in Houston. Jeg Coughlin wins his first race in only his second start in pro stock, Dean Skuza picks up his first win in funny car, and Gary Scelzi takes his first top fuel championship. Also included are the wrecks of Steve Schmidt, Jim Epler, and Keith Stark. Interesting bit during the What's Hot segment.. NHRA was trying to slow the cars down back in 1997 just after crossing the 320mph barrier. They obviously failed.

@kunghigh90 Pretty sure he ran up til 02 or so with Whit Bazemore driving, but basically got priced out of the sport. In the 2001 Houston race I'll be posting it was funny to hear Don Prudhomme interviewed after a run by Ron Capps saying I guess he needs more cars. His reference was to John Force who had 3 cars at the time.
