This is the Pizza Train. It usually has a Nickel Plate Road GP7 and a blue GP9, called ITM 200. The locomotive on the end is a Monon F7A, number 83-A. The train comes from the Indiana Transportation Museum in Noblesville, Indiana. Here's some info about the train and museum:

The ITM is located in northern Noblesville. There is a big yard of locomotives and cars. They have a steam locomotive, Nickel Plate Road #587. This one is out of service for now, but it has been fixed by employees of the ITM. They have a Monon FP7, #96. It has had some engine problems for a while, but hopefully they can fix it up. The Pizza Train is a passenger train that starts at the Indiana Transportation Museum, (Noblesville, Indiana) and runs all the way up to Pizza Shack in Tipton, Indiana. It carries many people to dinner in Tipton.

This train consists of ITM GP9 #200, 5 stainless steel budd coaches, and Monon F7A #83-A.

I'm sorry about the huge glare, that's because I didn't have very much prep time to set my camera up.

Hope you enjoy the P.T.

  • not to be rude, but why do they call it a Pizza train? anyone reply?

  • It travels about 17 miles north of its museum to stop at a pizza restaurant.

  • i dont think a commuter route would be feable,

    1. slow speed due to surrounding houses

    2. fair train and special trains would shut it down

    3. the track is old, bumpy, and is joined by brackets and bolts, not welded track, which is less bumpy, i asked someone why they dont replace it, they said to replace track from fishers station to the fair grounds would be about $5 million

oh btw, the F-7 is an ex-milwauke road locomotive, just painted like a monon.

  • Thanks

  • This was a wonderful ride & time. I am going to do this event again soon.

  • man that horn is awesome!

  • well CSX isnt very cooperative at all. I came back from volunteer work today at the ITM, and we were discussing how hard it would be to get csx to put the switch back in down south. CSX will not listen unless you have someone important on your side.

  • I road that Monon train from Noblesville IN to the state fair about 10 years ago. Now that area is built up and very populated. Thats why we moved out of Hamilton county. Nice vid.

  • Yay, the Monon! I think I remember it passing through Arcadia years ago.

I'd always wanted to ride that train, though I'd have had to drive all the way to Noblesville to do it. Riding it to the fair is marvelous, though.

  • I don't know, I haven't heard much about the tracks being extended yet.
