The Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp (April 29th-May 3rd in Los Angeles, CA) provided many highlights, one that included an all-star once in a lifetime drummer jam. The legendary Hal Blaine kicked off the night answering questions from the campers, followed by former Wings/Paul McCartney drummer Denny Seiwell who opened up with a track he recorded with Sir Paul for the James Bond soundtrack, Live & Let Die. And then with three kits in place, special guest and drum God Carmine Appice, Yes/camp counselor Alan White, original Chicago drummer/camp counselor Danny Seraphine, New Kids On The Blocks Chris Coleman, and the up and coming multi instrumentalist-power-house drummer Matty Amendola all took turns onstage. Then the floodgates opened with Jethro Tulls Doane Perry, metal-master Seven Antonopolous, Jessica Simpsons Gorden Campbell, LA session drummer Ryan Brown, Joan Jett/camp counselor Sandy Gennaro, Stray Cats/camp counselor Slim Jim Phantom, former Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler, and Modern Drummers Billy Amendola all taking turns.

Camper drummer/American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton said of the experience:
As a true beginner the Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp was beyond anything I have experienced on any stage on which Ive performed. Being in a band and bonding with new friends was life changing! I have always wanted to be a drummer and now I guess I am! The demonstration given by Billy Amendola and Modern Drummer magazine was something that I never could have dreamed of. The lineup of legends and future legends was awesome! The Camp was like any great ride. You just cant wait to experience it again! Play loud, play proud & Rock On!

  • @onelostronin = The gentleman "blocking your view" is Hal Blaine. If you don't know who Hal Blaine is you should do a little research. He played on more recordings than anybody and deserves a great deal or respect. Hal Blaine is THE MAN when it comes to playing the drums!
