  • im crying right now.

  • Throw your arms around me in the cold dark night

Hey now mama don't shut out the light

Don't you shut out the light

Don't you shut out the light

Don't you shut out the light

Don't you shut out the light

  • @Hister333

    Well said.

    Good day to you.

  • I hated the Vietnam war. But those poor kids that had to act out the crap...That's the true crime. It was genocide against our own people. And the dead were the lucky ones. They didn't spend the rest of their lives being spit on, and remembering.

  • Oh mama mama mama come quick

I've got the shakes and I'm gonna be sick

Throw your arms around me in the cold dark night

Hey now mama don't shut out the light

  • @johno934 George W. Bush, AKA Chickenhawk-in-Chief, was the worst president America ever had! Had there not been election fraud in 2000, Bush may have never become president. I love the Anti-Bush shirt that says Chickenhawk in Chief and depicts Bush as an alcoholic, cocaine addict, and lying draft dodger.

  • this is my favorite version of this song, thank you for posting.....

  • @biggi19902000 Yes, thank you. I knew I'd heard extra lyrics at the end in an earlier version of this song. I can understand why he left them out in the later versions, but either way, it's a beautiful song. There's also another live version that I've seen where he introduces the song and talks about how he first met Ron Kovic, the Vietnam vet who wrote the book "Born on the Fourth of July" and inspired this song.

  • @Hyperion35 this is the last verse (from springsteenlyrics):

As the grey moon disappears beyond that ??? sign

Stars rise, grow brighter then gone gone gone in the black and endless sky

Like the others before him, he'd gone and done his best

Now he watches the water of that nameless river rise above his chest
