Perry Botkin Jr is an American composer-musician and a talented arranger, who worked with some of the big names in the music industry such as Bobby Darin, Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon and The Hollyridge Strings - to name just a few. He's also well known for his composing/arranging work for film and television and his career covers a period of 40 years. Occasionally, Botkin went into the recording studio with his own orchestra, to record arrangements of 60's popsongs for particular record labels 'on demand'.
Here's a great "feel good" arrangement of Sam Cooke's "Wonderful world" from 1960 - a song often referred to as "What a wonderful world" (original by Louis Armstrong) but that's a completely different composition and both songs have nothing in common. To make the identification of the song a bit easier for all easy music lovers, we've added the 'informal' title "Don't know much about history" (which actually is the first line of the song lyrics).
For this video, we've chosen images which are not related to the lyrics, but only "in function" of the bright and happy arrangement.
From the 1968 album "Music in a mellow mood" here's the gifted Perry Botkin Jr with his great version of "Wonderful world" - Enjoy !
@CaptainPugwash1000 To listen to Perry's music is to listen to Hollyridge as well, I've always LOVED these orchestrated pop arrangements. Didn't know Walter had branched out into Botkin's music, found very little of Botkin only months ago. My 550 playlists are full of the beautiful music Walter always puts up for us, but arranged by year, by artist & by genre, & all alphabetized, all the time. Chuck
