Felix Pappalardi plays Guitarron mexican bass on this song. Felix was amazing with Tim Hardin. Sadly Felix was killed in 1983 by his wife Gail Collins in a pre meditated murder. She bought off jurors and did 3 years in jail. Sad story to say the least.
GeezRocker. Who the hell are you and who the hell was Tom Hardin? I am currently weeping over the loveliness of this song that I've never heard in my life, and I am pretty freakin' tune literate. 47 years old as it were. I am at once delighted at this new find yet disheartened at having found it so late. I mean..Holy shit. Why isn't this a thing in our cultural pastiche as 'twere. I should be able to say to a complete stranger...."You know....like Misty Roses...And have them grok me immediately
In some small ways, Tim Hardin reminds me of another late great genius of this time, named Nick Drake. Drake and Hardin had different sounds, but they both were extremely poetic in their very deep approach to the lyric of a song, with haunting melodies. Look up "River Man" by Nick Drake, and hear what I'm trying to get at. Thanks for posting this really great tune!
I was the recordist on the Tim Hardin II album recorded at Gold Star studios in Hollywood. Tim's songs still warm my soul. He was the most incredible artist I ever had the chance to work with. The world lost a beautiful songwriter far too soon...
Loved this song for 40 years having first heard it in in the wispy ethereal version by Astrud Gilberto. It is a classic that should be better known.

The similarity of the voices of John sebastian and the late Tim Hardin are uncanny.
