@samson123450 What kind of surprises me is Yoshida beating Royce in groundfighting...Yoshida's about as real-deal as judo competitors get, obviously, but he was never famous for his newaza. If he was competitive with a BJJ great, then guys like Neil Adams and Kashiwazaki have got to be able to hang with their best.

@samson123450 I've heard from people who know them personally that Pedro and Jason Morris have worked out with Royce and people from his school, and it was pretty evenly matched on the ground--the BJJ guys were more technical, but Pedro and Morris had excellent defense. Starting from standing, it was no contest--the BJJ guys couldn't get them down unless they wanted to go down. Not really surprising.

@ThaGearOfWar Back then it kinda was. No one knew anything on the ground.
-
@Henilla that wasn't a good comparison.

write behind a keyboard is very easy, to do it is more dificult

Royce Gracie ruined his legacy by juicing himself in the Sakuraba rematch. Man whatta sell out!

@BluePittbull666 i train judo and i can kick your ass under bjj rules or judo rules or street rules.

judo is the original bjj and the better.

yoshida would fuck him.
Did he win the tournament???? These promotional videos are so stupid. I'm a football player and I'm going to enter a basketball tournament and tackle people and talk crap about it.

No disrespect to Royce, but he was a World class BJJ competitor fighting a local recreational level Judo tounry (Judging from the mats) It would be like puting Kosie Inoue in a BJJ tourney in the blue belt divsion of a local fun tournement. jimmy Pedro was in his prime back then. Did anyone challenge him ?
