@Addydawn Well, that is great and wonderful and I hope more facilities move in that direction. I just think that the task at had shouldn't be viewed as a pain if you sought this sort of responsibility, personally. Furthermore, I believe it's nothing short than a form of torture. Lastly, meds are still a form of restraint, a chemical one.

Whats it like when thunderstorm aquires within when the patients are present?

You see the videos of mental institutions in Bulgaria and Serbia... horrible.
My ex-girlfriend's uncle worked in an institution for the criminally insane (I guess it was part prison part hospital) I'm not quite sure.. but he said conditions weren't that bad and there was always someone making sure they were treated fairly.

abby, I know this is kind of off subject but how where/the typical day's in the older institutions that are now shut down. Did they have the same heart as they do today, I was reading seriously on brutal treatment's back then, like..it's just trying to stablize the person but not make them happy. I know things have changed, but are there still older institutions that are still opened?

god post. thats really interesting, how about a post on your daily job in the mental hospital? like, how many people you see, how many come in, how many are dicharged, how many become violent, how often is there an emergency etc. i think that would be really great as someone who is going to be entering the field as a clinical psychologist one day. thanks
I am not making a personal attack to your character. However, the total lack of compassion from mental health professionals resonates in your comment that they are getting away from restraints and seclusion because it's a pain for the staff to do it and they don't want to observe you for hours.

@SilverJupiter77 I now work in a facility where we never use any ohysical restraints. We have medications availbale that help, better.

Back before the 1950's, when there wasn't much in the way of meds, patients were not treated well. Treatment is always becoming more humane with newer laws and oversight by insurance companies and accrediting boards.
