Hey Eternal Colonel,
I saw the same tour at the Santa Monica Civic. Second show. They did Feelin Good as an encore and the house lights came on. A quarter of the people wouldn't leave. After about twenty minutes Stevie Winwood plugged his guitar into an amp on the stage and they did Dear Mr. Fantasy. To this day, my best concert moment.

...saw this live in June '70. Winwood, Capaldi, & Miller. Winwood played his C w/bass pedals; Capaldi drums, Miller flute.
A treasured memory; I was less than 20 feet away from the stage.

That's a kick. I used the same pedal on my Arp Pro soloist. Winwood is one of the most innovative organists. Using the distortion on this cut he gets a square wave sound by having the clipping set just right. Probably his guitar playing gave him ideas for using different affects on the Hammond.

@DYNODRUM I like all the Traffic records, but this was special for heavy heartfelt performances from this 3 piece band.

@hoffinger I believe Steve used an Electro Harmonix LPB-1 power booster for distortion. He didn't use a leslie on this performance, I believe he played through Acoustic 260 amps.
Do you know if he used a C3 with the volume all the way up with output to the Leslie from the C3 speakers? Might get more distortion that way. B3 has only preamp I think.I use an M100 but don't get that much distortion with the preamp all the way up . has adjustable preamp on the volume pedal control.
