@CoolCollectableToys There are still many punk bands standing against mainstream success..
But most of them were formed late 70's- early 80's.. so I guess it's not modern

@CoolCollectableToys but i agree with you, green day isnt punk to me, its pop punk which isnt real punk, but there are good punk bands today too you just gotta search for it, its more underground these days...

@CoolCollectableToys Ever heard of crust punk? There's alot of punk bands today that dont care about commercialism or mainstream popularity....people are pissed about different things, times have changed, not everythings voice is gonna sound the same, people nowadays have different angers..

at least they used to be. i heard somewhere that john lydon had an interview back in the 90s that he said green day is the reason why he wants to do a gig with the sex pistols again

@CoolCollectableToys the only reason green day signed with reprise was that they really liked the producer who offered them a contract, they had allready turned down dozens of major labels. it was never about the money.

@o0Vox lies
@WizardTaco123 now we are getting somewhere, what you call "classic punk" is punk to me. Thank you for agreeing that green day were never in your words "classic punk" which = punk. The new brand of punk is not the same. Some of the same old energy was there but generally punk music was a cheap imitation of the original.New punk music was more commercialized and seemed more interested in mainstream success. This was everything the old style punk had fought against.
