Julie James takes us behind the scenes of John Guare's comedy, "The House of Blue Leaves." In the play, Ben Stiller plays Artie Shaughnessy, a zookeeper and wannabe songwriter who is trying to cope with a schizophrenic wife (Edie Falco), an impatient girlfriend (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and a visit from the Pope, all while sustaining his dream of hitting it big. The play debuted on Broadway in 1986 featuring Ben Stiller in his Broadway and professional debut as Ronnie Shaughnessy, Artie's son. The original 1971 Off Broadway production featured Ben Stiller's mother Anne Meara as Bunny Flingus.
