without a doubt, the single greatest achievement of steam railroading. whether is be making the 45 mile trek from Durango to Silverton, over the highline, and along the Animas River. Or maybe climbing the 4% grade up to Cumbres Pass, Rounding Tanglefoot Curve, gliding through the desert near lava and passing the deserted water tower, or creeping through Rock Tunnel. There is just something about the D&RGW and the routes that they chose, that makes one wish that they could go back in time to visit the days. But thanks to the dedicated people at the Cumbres and Toltec and the Durango and Silverton, we can still get a glimpse into the past.

  • It's nice to hear the Lonesome Whistle CD playing for the back ground music. Nice touch. This is a great tribute slide show!
