Mozart Symphony #40 K. 550 in G minor - first movement (Molto Allegro) . Sir Charles Mackerras Orchestra.
For me, the best tempo for this symphony. Just enjoy it!

I wish I could give a comment to his songs that would actually suit their greatness and perfection... but only he would be able to invent words that could descripe his works. There is no god to me but the one of music, Mozart.

@marnikchoto Couldn't agree more. Karajan was an absolute master when conducting Beethoven, but his version of the 40th just sounds wrong to me. IMO, this movement needs to be dynamic and energetic which the Karajan version is so not. I agree wholeheartedly, this is the right tempo.
If memory serves me right, Sir Neville Mariner and the Academy of St. Martins in the Field did a pretty good version at roughly the same tempo.

@LordDarts Yes, i don't like the version of Karajan. It's curious the fact that his conduction of Beethoven's simphonies is, by contrast, absolutely amazing.
