Bagatelle Mall, Moka Mauritius 20th October 2011. The Bagatelle Mall of Mauritius was officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navin Ramgoolam on the 19th October 2011.
All these shopping malls in the surrounding areas and someone felt the need to further add one more by constructing this colonial era mall ??
Seems to me the government is relying too much on a services and financial sector based economy, this will end in a nightmare one day, look at the UK, which has NO industries left.
The government needs to promote an INDUSTRIAL based economy !! like singapore did!!
One more Shopping Centre to add to others existing ones which will attract may be more tourists than local people, for they are build keeping them in mind. If nothing else at least local people have jobs.
Fabulous project.A little bit of creative marketing should ensure the success of this place.Phoenix Les Halles should pick up if the Highlands town is built. But then the name Les Halles will have been replaced by a more universal name.
Very impressive shopping centre . But how many people in that video were holding store bags ? ...None !. Says it all !! .The average Mauritian don't have the money to spend .The only thing that will be supporting this shopping mall will be its food court as its alway busy unlike the retail outlets . Too many of these malls are cropping up in close proximity of each other. Firstly Phoenix Les Halles ,which is basically a failure , Secondly Centrepoint that was half built , and now Baguatelle !
