Lyrics:
Peacock spreads its fan
I try to catch the horizon
with my hand
my hand

Paint me a rainbow
I'll tell you all the colours that I love
I love

Send me up the river
I can do it on my own
Load me up with bricks and rocks
And throw me overboard
Underneath
The water
I can teach myself
To breathe

Bind me a rope
Of all the hardship
of my bone
my bone

  • are you from helena mt? i think i might known you from school =D

  • Not really, I'm from Gothenburg, Sweden.

  • you sing this song in the only way a song should be sung... that is to say, ecstatically

    (i paraphrase john updike =P)

just the choice of words in your first line, "peacock spreads its fan", is so original, and such a pleasant surprise =)

and the way you toss your head, and all your facial expressions... they are a portrait of delight :)

i should probably quit harping on this video =P but i only just remembered it and my excitement on first seeing it. i feel compelled to flood the comments.

  • Well thank you for those words, oh though Peacock spreads its fan is everything but original. I'd say it's directly stolen from Leonard Cohen.

  • this is a real gem : ) it has the magical quality of great art.

i really love the sophisticated slant rhyme in the lyrics. the first stanza blows me away.

i also like the shock value of the last stanza. bind me a rope, of hardship... of bone. however, the one thing i'd be critical of is the last line of the last stanza, "my bone". since the irony has already been accomplished, it seems a little awkward to hear it again.

very minor criticism though. i really love this song.

  • I see, I believe I sing it twice because of the rhythm
