PopR1ne find a local fire explorers post or cadet program through a department near you, also some schools offer fire science as an elective, some colleges might even let you take theirs, my school offers fire science so i took that and also got on an explorers post. Thats a good way to start a career in the fire service, still gotta go to college though as some depts. are requiring a degree now.

@newb4life11 Hey,im 17..and next year ill be a senior in HS and 18 in New jersey,jersey city..what is the best thing to do to get started to become one?Besides going to college for 2 years..any suggestions on what to do?look for the department number or what?
