Imagine if one minute from now, every single person on Earth disappeared. All 6.6 billion of us. What would happen to the world without humans? How long would it be before our nuclear power plants erupted, skyscrapers crumbled and satellites dropped from the sky? What would become of the household pets and farm animals? And could an ecosystem plagued with years of pollution ever recover?

Please Note: Even though i don't agree with everything in this documentary i think its interesting and thought provoking to say the least, Enjoy!

  • everyone should evacuate the cities it is said some will survive but only %10 i live in port alberni bc canadaim right in the tsunami zone and earthquake zone im moving my family near the flat lands of the parie provinces before dec 21 st 2012

  • @MrBigawesome1 TWO WORDS: PAY ATTENTION

  • why does the date have to be friday the 13th?

  • Birth control is a good thing.People continue to breed, destroy and consume everything without appreciating the beauty of the natural world.

  • Woo Hoo no more taxes :)

  • @MrBigawesome1 I was thinking the same thing. The humans die but the animals live

  • @OneVoiceMore sharks, crocodiles, certain bacteria, and of course many plants. there's few species which has been around millions of years. our human existence is mere 200,000y. if we remained alive for million years there's no reason why we wouldn't be able to make it 10 million years. but of course life is also delicate and by remaining 1 planet species we're still keeping all our eggs in 1 basket. all it'd take is 1 huge disaster to totally weaken us. but we may find ways to deal with it

  • @Didymusification most people died around 30 but even at those times few lived up to 80 or perhaps even longer. they were lucky few. i wouldn't be surprised if someone lived up to 100 as long the conditions were good. egyptian royalties surely could've made it. of course at hunter gatherer times we were heavily dependent on our environment and many dangers were around to shorten lifespan, but in our genes it was already possible to live long as our genes are still supposedly pretty much the same

  • @Didymusification there's biological limit to our maximum age around 120 or less. no one gets to live to such age even with very healthy lifestyle or good genes. it's getting increasingly harder to prolong maximum life. but by average we are indeed doing well by having more and more people live up to older age. to reach 150 would take gene manipulation or other technological marvels to make our species better

  • @daDCkidz because governments are heavily dependent on electric and oil companies and the individual politicians want to keep their money flow and good connections alive. by going green is not as profitable. even here is found selfishness of the individuals. great downfall to humanity

  • @OneVoiceMore i don't know about ur evolution theory here. to me it seems like the stupid ignorant people are the ones to breed most offspring into this world. and smarter well educated people are responsible enough to only reproduce 1-3 children. our intelligence is actually going down. in our world there is plenty opportunities left for ignorant people to live and multiply their ideologies and thinking patterns into next generations

  • @MrBigawesome1 lol it doesn't matter how it would happen. it's not documentary about us disappearing, nor does it entertain any ideas how or when or why. really it's more of a documentary of what happens to things we have built in timelapse. treat it as it is, maybe crap to u. but there's a few things one can learn also. not great many things though i must say

  • @Didymusification we're one damn persistent species and it'd be very hard to remove all of us. even bigass comet that killed the dinosaurs wouldn't kill us. there's always a few remaining, and like bacteria or like rats we multiply by huge rate

  • 3:38 why is this damn electric sample sound in every damn documentary or movie out there. it's not that they couldn't create new samples. makes them sound so cheap

  • @OneVoiceMore Wow listening to you arrogant hippies talk is giving me a tumor. So pathetic. You honestly think humanity is going to just disappear? You are stupid. I am done talking to uppity retards such as yourself. I would have talked you without insulting you but I just don't like your arrogance or the simple fact that you are so uppity.

  • @Didymusification I think you're living in the Cold War era if you think our end will be nuclear. Far more likely will be the inevitable ELE. Inevitable.

Or perhaps a sweet combo of bio and chem assaults on the specie.

I'm glad there are wiser, less arrogant people on earth, because there's a very good chance THOSE are the ones that will evolve, while those like yourself will probably end up as the next wave of fossil fuels.

Want books on the subject? I'll help with big words

  • @Didymusification rep·li·cate/ˈrepliˌkāt/

Verb: Make an exact copy of; reproduce.

Again, those darn books. This one is called a dictionary. Where are we going to make an exact copy of the earth? That might sort of mess up the gravitational equilibrium of the solar system. Terraforming? Which planet is our best candidate? How will we get there? I read your comment.

You're just this side of embarrassingly ignorant, but sure you're a genius.

  • @Didymusification I did. Read the dictionary. Exactly where are we going to get the sheer mass to replicate the earth?

I don't care if you listen or not. I suspect not listening to those more intelligent than yourself is why you are....well...the way you are. Ignorant, intolerant, combative, and easily butthurt when contradicted with simple observable facts.

  • @Didymusification Psssst. Here's a few of those facts that make your tantrums look silly.

Birds have been around far longer than humans. Hmm.

    Bacteria and viruses, too.

And they will VERY likely outlast us. Can I recommend some books to you?

It is easily arguable that this human mutation, which has given us our version of intelligence, may well be a mutation that is specifically selected for extinction...especially the self-destructive nature of it.

    Now, do take those meds.

  • @Didymusification Lol, did you call ME combative? Check self, kid.

Intelligence is not how nature selects for extinction, silly person. I again point to dinosaurs. The keynote here is 'adaptability' and suiting a niche.

We could be extinct in a week, period. That's just science and history.

I'm not worried about looking like an 'idiot' to you. You have plenty to learn about the difference between your egotistical opinions and simple facts.

Do try to calm down, okay?

  • we are the parasites to this earth

  • See,the world would be better if we were more "green" but does the government care no because they never will anyways they wouldn't care if we died or anything else did so if they say we need to be more green not we but them

  • @Didymusification thanks for your reply! Let's hope our nations DO get out of this toxic stage ASAP before it's "too late!" Hopefully the world IS getting WISER! and everyone will realize how EACH ONE OF US is responsible for the health of our world .... I would like to see an end to nuclear power and a strong emphasis on "clean energy" ....solar, wind, thermal, and wiser construction of homes so LESS energy will be needed for heat/AC, etc....

  • @OneVoiceMore See you wouldn't look like an idiot if you read my comments. I am not going to fight with you so stop with the combative attitude. I was merely stating the logical conclusions. Humans will survive. Even if we did have a nuclear war we would rebuild. Nothing is going to stop us. The end.

  • @OneVoiceMore Oh and I was strictly referring to the human race 'never' going to become extinct. Yes we do have the potential but seeing as though we are alot more intelligent than say a bird it would be safe to assume we will last far longer. We will hopefully in the next couple of decades invest in solar energy. I have heard that Quantum Dots are being implemented into solar panels recently. That makes them 50-100% more efficient than they are right now.
