Are you Swedish? It's up to the next generation to promote and sustain their culture. Having said that it seems to be down to fashions and fads.

    Good luck

  • @HarryBodensson i didn´t mean to say that english and american cultures are the same. I obviously know they are different. what i tried to say is most swedes tend to praise any form of culture, like art, coming from the "english speaking world" as if it were better than their own. I clearly know that nowadays this tends to happen pretty much everywhere in the world, but i´ve been shocked to find out how much particularly sweden has become so "americanized" this past decade.

You have no idea about English culture obviously. The true English are a Germanic people and proud of their culture but it is pretty similar to the Nordic cultures.

    Not American...

  • třista slov pro sníh? no to je úžasný!

  • To save the Sami language, what they need to take in considerations is that it is divided up into 7 different dialects. "Tierva" is "Greetings" in the Inari dialect. "Tiirrv" is "Greetings" in the Kildin dialect. "Buorre biejvve" is "Greetings" in the Lule dialect. "Buorre beaivi" is "Greetings" in North dialect. "Tiorv" is "Greetings" in the Skolt dialect. "Buerie biejjie" is "Greetings" in the South dialect. "Tiirn yalak" is "Greetings" in the Ter dialect.

  • it sounds like finnish but with a swedish accent

  • Actually, when Finnic tribes drove the Sami up to the Arctic Circle, they took on their language. It believed the Sami are related to the Basques, who were driven to the Pyrenees Mountains by Indo-European tribes. So technically, there are not a Finno-Ugric people, but their language is. Basically, they speak an ancient form of Finnish. But irrespective, they must preserve their language, and its numerous dialects. King Harald V of Norway apologized for the forced Norwegianization.

  • @dinnj

Meaning DNA markers unique in comparison to other populations. Beyond the baseline shared by all humans. Not something you couldn't figure out from the context.
