Rustic furniture may look simple and old fashioned, but how it's manufactured certainly is anything but. So, to keep purchasing rustic log furniture from becoming complicated, Meghan Carter of http://www.AsktheDecorator.com visited Old Hickory to learn the secrets to selecting good, quality rustic furniture.

  • Rustic furniture is nice. But I don't agree that it takes a lot of expensive machinery like they have at Old Hickory. My friend makes a good living building this kind of furniture with some innovative low cost tools. Sorry, I promised not to describe them. But just remember that in any kind of manufacturing, the process can be as creative as the finished product.

  • You're completely right. Old Hickory uses the machinery to create its rustic furniture because the company produces mass quantities of furniture. The end result is beautiful; however, I've also seen gorgeous pieces of rustic furniture made completely by hand. The artists who create those rustic furniture pieces are incredible. Thank you so much for reminding us that not everything is mass-produced.

  • The furniture is pretty, but this is a business that has taken sustainability and craftsmanship, manipulating it into corporate mass production. Not my preference.

  • To "discover how rustic furniture is made" I think it would be more appealing to the viewers to show a crafters point of view, not furniture that is mass produced like this. I dont like this type of style.

  • Ya the furniture is beautiful but not hand made. Everything there is on an assembly line. Check out Hickory Furniture Designs to see true hand made hickory furniture

  • Stop complaining you whinning sissies. People buy what they want and if they wanna buy mass produced furniture what's it to you anyways? This is called capitalism, free enterprise, whatever you wanna call it. Live your life and leave other people live theirs the way THEY want to live it.

  • Thomas Molesworth desingned and help build the old faithful lodge in yellowstone nat. park. He also introduced log furniture to the masses. Take it from a craftsman, his furniture is ok, but has no soul. Mass production is not rustic.

  • I agree with Drail80s. There are a lot of real craftsmen in this country that make REAL rustic furniture the way it was originally built. What does that mean? The price isn't artificially inflated, the quality is the best, and the "CEO" gets his damn hands dirty. Not like this guy in the black turtle neck. I recommend one of our videos that features a craftsman in Mancos, Colorado. Truly sustainable and truly rustic.

  • How much work goes into it?? You dont know by going to a large factory.

  • I Love this, rustic furniture is so beautiful and it last for years.
