An idea for alternative lighting......White Cold Cathode Computer case lights.
They have low current draw and are 12 V. Each set is about 9 dollars shipped and has 2 tubes with output about 350 LUX.
I use 2 sets (4 twelve inch long bulbs) for lighting my computer room. 1 set is sufficient however when I want to read a book I turn the other set on. They claim to be 5 milliamp at 12 volt. although I have not verified it at this time.

ok so I have a question??? how much was the cost of your set-up of solar panels and inverter? I wanna know how much it is for a person thinking about living off the grid a is to set-up.

@celluloidcypher they're different prices depending on your set up. this was just the one greaserig set up and it has been a work in progress. Upgrades like the batteries and the inverters etc. A little research on the net and you can find all sorts of solar options.

@redspade04 I do graphic design, web design, illustration, photography, photo restoration, video & music, as well as a day trader on the NASDAQ. I possess 2 degrees and work 7 days a week.
