  • my son Kyden was born september 15th 2010. he was diagnosed with hirschsprungs disease right after birth because he didnt pass a stool. he was sent straight to the childrens hospital for surgery. he had a pull through surgery and has been to the hospital once a month every month after his birth for atleast a week so far...he went back this last time for a bacterial infection in his stool due to hirschsprungs disease. i am so scared for him

Just know that things do get easier and their health does get better...The first few years are tough and full of alot of challenges. Dylan had issues for 3 years, we potty trained at age 4, and he will be 5 in March and hasnt had any issues in almost a year....It is scary but it does get better....Sometimes the bacterial over growth happens just know the signs and know when to seek treatment, these will eventually pass as he gets older...Good luck to you guys!

  • May I ask if anyone else has it or anyone else in your family suffers from bowl problems? I ended up getting it from my dad who suffers from bowl problems. Stay strong as look at me I beat it and live a very healthy life with very little problems.... just a little wind ;)

  • @fresky74 Thanks for your comments and words of encouragement....Noone else in the family has bowel issues. Then again as I have always said, everyone in one way or another or at some point has delt with constipation, but I think years ago HD was so unheard of that alot of people/children were thought to just have chronic constipation when in fact it could be a mild case of HD....Sadley years ago, if HD was severe enough children died before getting a diagnosis. Things have improved medically.

  • Dylan is doing great these days. He hasnt had a bowel obstruction or any serious issues since April, so things are looking up. He is 4 and in preschool now, does really well. He had 3 major surgeries on his intestines (1 colostomy & 2 bowel ressections) He has approx.10 inches of his large intestine left. The only issues we have now are related to stomach viruses or if he gets a cold, either one can cause him to get really sick when it comes to bowel issues. We have been blessed compared to some

  • I wanted to let all of you know that have left comments that I appreciate them...Good luck to you and your children as you travel this difficult journey of a rare disorder. Dylan turned 4 in March, and potty trained in April...Things have gotten so much better health wise, he is doing awesome...I hope the same for all of your children...Best wishes, Catrina

  • On March 13, 1997, I was born with this... Hopefully your child will grow up to be like me and not even know how to spell the disease, much less have any symptoms.

  • WOW! Great video! My son just turned 9 and he to had Hirshsprungs disease. He had a total of 5 surgeries and now he has no colon left. He had what they call Hirshsprungs Disease wit skip lesions. • I have Herschsprungs disease and i have a giant scar on my stomach........... when I was smaller "I was embarrassed about it but now it's a part of me and I like it...... my mom said that i was throwing up my feces and urine!!! gross but she saved my life... she scooped it out of my mouth and rushed me too the hospital.. if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here... that's why I love her

  • Jesus is worthy to rule earth, Jesus loves you.

  • My son was also born with this disease and spent many years in and out of hospital... some close close calls... he's now in his 14th year and doing very well. YES there's hope!

  • I only found out the reason why i had all the scars across my stomach and up on my shoulder were because of Hirschsprung's Disease i think i had it when i was 2 or 3 and i was in hospital for what i remember for a very long time , i got thought it and i hope all the best for anybody else who has to go though it ! and reading some of the storys below about eating beans and currys makes em understand why i pass wind so many times ! wacthing certain other videos has made me understand what i had!

  • My daughter was just diagnosed with Hirschsprungs disease and we're all very, very scared. It's nice to hear survival stories like Dylan's...
