@MzEspionaj In defense of morthomme62, I agree this is definitely "West Coast" in its style and theme, in the same way "Aja" and "Glamour Profession" are and a song like "My Old School" is not.
The musical reference to Keith Jarrett's 'As Long as You Know You're Living Yours' is unmistakable but Donald Fagan and Walter Becker didn't have to worry about protecting their reputation as songwriters. The body of Steely Dan's work is some of the most creative in the history of rock/jazz music.
Keith Jarrett is also one of the most creative musical geniuses around. Too bad they had that conflict.
@barneez1 hehe i know what're saying but according to copyrights protections laws as far as i can remember it is 7 bars of a similar music that can be recognized as i plagiarism. And in case of this song we do have a long intro that totally resembles keith's "'long as you know you're living yours ". It is the same grove, same key and tempo, the sax line is very similar to keith's and even the sound and the timbre of the sax it a copycat of the the one from kieth's. (pls see 2nd part my reply blw
besides, Becker and Fagen did not pay Keith out but they were forced to add his name to the credits and to include him in the royalties.
I do know that keith could be a dickhead even at his own concerts but i dont personally care as he's still of the greats still leaving and i do idolize him
Inspired video! Love the setting and the slow motion.
