Franco Donatoni's Tre Improvvasazioni. Personally I prefer the variety in this piece over his more commonly noted piano work "Rima". Verrrrrrry Post-Darmstadt Italian.

Composer- Franco Donatoni

  • You should add links to the original files in the description so that we can download and listen to something that's better than mono-youtube quality.

  • Yeah. Sure man. If you want to upload all the music to rapidshare or something, you have fun with that.

    PS- you're welcome.

  • It is ugly and nonsense. The usual shit that dominated entire unhappy decades of the XX Century musical world. But fortunately now it is over: just a few hypocritical, academic and pseudo-intellectual people want to hear this, and like to talk about it in public just to show their hollow knowledge of this nonsense music.

  • Yes, now it is over; we're in XXI Century. You don't have to worry about any more dissonance, just like you said. Your virgin ears are safe from ever hearing a minor second again. With the recent deaths of Kagel, Xenakis, Ligeti, Donatoni, Radulescu, Berio and Stockhausen (I'm sure each time one of them died, you masturbated to a repeated perfect fifth), you are left with the soothing, buttery sounds of Finnissy, Ferneyhough, Murail, Boulez, Dench, Dillon, Dusapin, Barrett, Gehlhaar, [cont.]

  • Lachenmann, Wuorinen, Carter, Babbitt, Bussotti, Penderecki, Fox etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, just those guys, those few "hypocritical" (what in the fuck could you possibly mean by that??), "academic" (I'm sure they all take it as a compliment that you note they are intelligent) and "pseudo-intellectual (I would love to see you spar with them and crush them with you real-intellectualism; you've shown you are certainly quite the fountain of knowledge on modern music, after all) [cont.]

  • who like to discuss music. HOW DARE ANYONE even MENTION music that you dislike? The AUDACITY. Anyway, obviously all of our (/they're) knowledge isn't so hollow, just in comparison to yours! We can't ALL be a tome of encyclopedic information and supreme philosophy of aesthetic and artistic merit like youuuuu can <3 *swoons at your gigantic brain*

  • I understand that not everyone can warm up to this, but criticizing it for being "ugly" is ridiculous and subjective. 19th-century critics similarly called the music of late Beethoven, Berlioz, and Strauss ugly; were they wrong?

Besides... the world isn't daffodils and puppies and music should reflect that more often.

  • @unavoltatanto3485 Hi from what you are saying i strongley deduce that this piece puts your soul in a very stressful state. Whenever your feel something that disappoint you, there is a key theme of your life...

    thinks about that..

We should be grateful to musicians who put us in difficulty...

  • @qtpipi the notes are open source, you can just play it yourself.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Oh, I love minor seconds... I could just pound them as tone clusters on the piano all day.
