Sybil is a 2 year old Timneh African Grey, and has "helped me raise" Yoshi, a 1 year old Congo African Grey since he was only weeks old. Right off the bat, I knew these two would be great friends, especially after watching Sybil get into Yoshi's brooder and fall asleep preening him when he started getting his pin feathers.
They are complete opposites: Sybil is outgoing and courageous, and Yoshi is very reserved and prefers practicing his speach skills when he doesnt think i can hear him, lol. Sybil, on the other hand is a very confident mimicker and is as crazy as they come. She loves to dance and make fun of the other bird sounds...and me. Also, as you can see, she becomes a birdie bobble head, lol. They definitely both have their own personalties.
I wanted to post this video for those of you who were interested in the differences of the two species, both emotionally and physically. Congos are not better than Timnehs or vice versa, Most of their behaviours are reflected on what they were taught as babies. They both are extremely intelligent and have logical thinking skills as well as the ability to speak well. Both can be great for a family, as long as they are introduced to many people and all members of the family take turns feeding and playing with the bird.
I hope you enjoy them as much as i do, and as much as Yoshi enjoys his pomegranites (which are all over his face in the video). Hopefully this spring Ill have lots of new videos to post of our new arrivals.
Is it just me or is the Timneh about the same size as the Congo? In reading about Timnehs, there are described as anywhere from somewhat to significantly smaller than Congos.
