Oh don't worry, F1 leaves all those cars in the dust ;)
Although I pay a BIIIIIIG respect to those cars, S4 is just A MONSTER.

Group C sportscar racing was insanely fast and powerful to in the 80's and early 90's. The Porsche 956 still holds the all time Nurburgring lap record, which Stefan Bellof took in 1983 (almost 30 years ago).
In 1989 the Sauber-Mercedes C9's did 400km/h on the Mulsanne straight during qualifying. This is the reason they added two chicanes there in 1990.
Alpina never made some 1500hp BMW engine. EVER.
The M10/M12 was used in F1 by Brabham and Benetton. Piquet was champion in '83

Ayrton Senna qualified the Lotus-Renault in 1986 with around 1300hp. No wonder he had 8 poles in a car which wasn't the best. Honda claimed their engines had 1000hp+ in the races, because no other turbo engine from Ferrari,Renault,TAG Porsche or BMW could take that much in a race distance.
Most powerful racecars ever? Ever heard of Can-Am? 1966-1973. In 1973 Porsche had the dominant 917-30 which used 1100hp in races and 1580hp in qualifying. It killed Can-Am being so dominant.

You'd best catch up on some reading about motorracing. The S4 had 600hp, whoever claims 800hp is deluded, and Audi never had 1000hp in rallying EVER.
Formula 1 had the turbo era in 1979-1988, and in 1986 there was no limit to how much boost the engines could run.
The 1,5 litre straight 4 BMW which they used in FORMULA 1 developed over 1400hp in qualifying trim in 1986. According to Paul Rosche of BMW motorsport they used 5,6bars of boost. In races they used 900hp.

@theriontom pikes peak?? mille miglia is tougher dude!!
An engine that would be a real bitch to work on. Exhaust manifolds on both sides of the block and the intake manifold on top feeding the engine between the cams. This was how Car and Driver described it at the time.
