@TheColonelsKitchen I think you need to relax a little bit. After simmering, the sauce probably has less alcohol than an apple. Alcohol in such minute quantities is a NON-ISSUE.

Can someone tell me which is the most common steak sauce there is? I've never made one before.

@TheColonelsKitchen I'm going to take a wild guess and say that maybe he wanted to do something DIFFERENT/CREATIVE??? Maybe that sounds crazy...but that's my take on it. Culinary Arts would be so boring if we just copied the recipes of popular brands.

I may be wrong but I thought that cooking alchol reduced or eiiminated the effects and just left the flavor? does it not evaporate?
The world's most popular "steak", or "brown", sauces (including A-1, HP, Daddies, etc) have NEVER contained alcohol in any form. These products have been around for over 100 years and they sell in their millions worldwide... My guess is they'll still be selling in another 100 years or so, too. Clearly alcohol is not needed, so why make a steak sauce that contains it (therefore limiting the uptake of those who are willing to reproduce your recipe)?

Maybe it's fun to make at home?

Thanks for a great recipe. I had a problem when making this; the butter didn't mix properly with the mustard (density contrasts?) - is there any way to overcome this? Will adding some cream help?

@Jix551
I would say whisk harder to make it blend.
Cheers!
