Of course we will, spesh when it comes to football (bear in mind this music is the Champions League anthem). I'm totally British & not a gr8 fan of Charles, wud much rather Wills, but I believe in our royal family 4 the money they bring to our country in regards to tourism. Plus everyone loves the queen which keeps us friends with the rest of the world. Not sure Charles can keep that same torch glowing tho. A republic is a nice idea but will never happen. We're very set in us ways is us Brits :)

I'm not British.
But will you guys shout Long Live the King for (the future) Charles III ?
Or would you prefer his son, or probably a republic?

but if so, then how come Charles I & James II ascended the throne?

Not quite. There is a 'fail-safe' mechanism in place which ensures that no one incompetent to sit on the throne shall ascend to it. The Accession Council, convening within three days on the death of the Sovereign, confirms as to whether the Heir Apparent and new Sovereign is suitable for the post. The Council is composed of leading Privy Councillors, which are also Government Cabinet members. This process has existed for over 1,000 years. The British do not need to learn from the Americans!

@AwwFiddleStix You could not explain just WHY it was a step down for him? You are making wild rantings. In war and peace the colonies where in deed lost under her stewardship

I'm making wild rantings? How exciting! ^_^
I was pointing out to another member that Prince Philip is not in fact a Mountbatten by birth. Unless I'm mistaken he is descended from a more royal family. Hence the "step down" when he gave up his title and surname. I quite like Philip so don't think I'm speaking poorly of him if that's what has you upset.

The best couple was Victoria and Albert. Elizabeth II lost our colonies!!! Plus I suspect Phil of being a true Mountbottom, pardon me Mountbatten.

Actually, Prince Philip was born a true member of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg royal families of Norway, Denmark and Greece. Becoming a Mountbatten (altered from Battenburg) was actually a step down for him. ^_^
As for the African, Indian and Asian colonies...I say it was better to lose them mostly peacefully then to let it drag out into a war.

who was the person who put the crown on the queen's head?

Geoffrey Fisher who was the Archbishop of Canterbury at the time.
