  • WoW! Brandon would love to try this :)

  • @VivaLasVeggies Tell him to come over and pump some iron! :)

  • Hi a few questions if I may...

    1. Did you ever try the Bodycraft Jones Smith machine? If so any comments on this vs the Bodycraft Jones? I've read this one is smoother.

    2. How hard was the assembly? Can 2 people carry everything down to the basement and assemble it?

    3. The 2 weight racks seem kinda close to each other do you ever bang the bar between them or is there plenty of room between them to do any free motion exercies? (The Bodycraft crack moves with the bar)

    Thanks!

  • As for the assembly, I have no opinion on that since I paid extra for delivery and installation. Two guys carried it up my stairs and installed it within 45 minutes or so, and it seemed like they had no trouble all. About the racks, i feel that they aren't too close together and I have plenty of room to do bench presses, rows, squats, etc without banging the bar into anything. You get used to the dimensions of the rack real quick, and after a couple workouts you dont think about it anymore.

  • @Steedlaw

    It's 30lbs.

  • @ASFx2600 Nice. It is a very nice machine. great for guys like me who work out solo in the basement and don't have a spotter. I am surely getting one. Thanks for posting this.

  • @Steedlaw The bar is supposed to be 45lb but I've never tried to weigh it though. It might have felt a bit lighter for you because you don't have to balance it

  • @ASFx2600 Do you know how heavy the bar is? I played around with my friend's PTS and the bar felt a little lighter than a typical 45 lbs or so.

  • Overall I felt they were both great machines, but there were a couple major reasons why I chose the Hoist. The #1 reason was the fact that the Hoist can still act as a real free weight rack, and you can use any barbell wanted to. You can't do that on the Jones since the whole rack moves with the built-in bar. My #2 reason was what you had mentioned. The bar movement just felt better and more smooth.

  • I've had it for a little over a year now and still love it. It's the best piece of equipment I own. The pull up bar is definitely usable with 9ft ceilings. Just make sure there isn't a light or ceiling fan above it.
