Life after FREE for Andy Fraser on bass, with Chris Spedding on guitar, Marty Simon on drums and of course Snips on vocals. WORLD PARK JUNKIES from the 1973 album by SHARKS, First Water
Great to see so many dedicated Sharks fans! My mate Pete (big Andy Fraser fan, later played bass in Fischer Z)and I saw them at the Marquee in Sept 1974. I made a cassette of their sadly unreleased 3rd album and cheekily we played at least 3 unknown Sharks tunes in our teenage band Bean Machine. Snips was top banana frontman - doing the Charleston in a confrontational way to the audience and spinning round on the balls of his feet like a dancer from 'West Side Story'. Spedding was mean, man.
One of my all time favourite bands (both versions). Used to play quite a few of their songs in a cover band back in the late 70's. World Park Junkies, Kung Fu, Sophistication. Chris Spedding got me interested in slide guitar. Wish there was some ilve footage somwhere
Hi royaldeluxe. Lloyd is still playing slide guitar and teaching too. He and another band helped me put on a charity gig for Teenage Cancer Trust on Good Friday. We raised over £4500 for new ubnit at Addenbrookes where my 16 year old Goddaughter is receving treatment for very rare sarcoma. Musicians never fail to amaze me with their generosity and talent.
I still have a signed copy of this album - my brother, Lloyd Watson, supported Sharks and Roxy Music. I then bumped into Snips at a party in Notting Hill - he kept expecting Lloyd to climb in through the windows on the upper floors as he did in Paris!!
Hi Marty - sorry for posting this late. Still checking for some live footage. Nick is in excellent shape. How are you. Need some more live footage on youtube. Jane
You Sharks fans might like to know that Snips and Spedding have a new band King Mob here on You Tube.
