  • This is for acting as second for someone committing seppuku. The opponent is not an enemy so must be treated with more respect and poses no threat to him. It's easy to see especially after you know what you're looking at.

Note how the cut is stopped short and removed rather than drawing through and severing the head. Cutting all the way through would be very degrading and disrespectful.

  • 剣舞だ

  • @jaybekko: Each school has a different flourish to the sword arts. that may explain some of the motions. more so i believe that the act of Kaishaku is part of a greater ritual, and like many other Japanese rituals the roles are intricate and layered in tradition and meaning. the exaggerated motions may be explained better by the nature of the act being preformed.

  • Is there an explanation why the action of the Kaishakunin is so elaborate?

  • sem dúvida, uma das katas mais bonitas e exigentes que vi...

para a entender melhor tive que andar por aí a fazer umas pesquisas. a primeira vez que a fiz mal, estava tão arrepiada. saber o que ela representa deixou-me comovida.
