I have a 66 Nova and would like to put C4 Suspension into it. Could you give me some idea how much work this was to install the rear end.

that rear is from a c4 the c5 has a rearmounted trans

I have to totally commend you on such a beautiful application. From what the camera captures is a sign of complete obsession to immaculate detail! Bravo!
Seeing the 'Independent Rear Suspension' in the Nova brings me to the edge of my seat. Is there a kit that is now available that might be applicable to the GenI Camaro's. My 1st car when I was 16 was a 67SS3504spd($900) I want to duplicate that with overthe top components like your car. This would be my Coup de Grâce. Again, truly amazing car!

Just wanna let you know I really enjoyed the videos youve put on the tube. Very nice craftsmanship and gives new meaning to street sleepers. Are you doing the work on these cars featured? very, very nice.Being a Nova guy myself its good to see these done in this manner instead of being hacked up race cars! Dont get me wrong I love racecars but theres nothing like a bone stock appearing ride that will open a can of woop ass on many unsuspecting mustangs or hondas. Keep doing what your doin!!!!

No problem...Ya there are many, including the Cadillac ctsv, pontiac g8 gpx, and Commodores just to name a few haha. The C5 is not a complete transaxle, it has similar features to but is not,it is still a traditional tranny just with no drive shaft and a very long main shaft do the flywheel so to speak. But yeas there are many front and rearwheel transaxle vehicles, most rear transaxles though are foreign with a rear mounted engine as well.

Thanks for the clarification on rear suspension freakss86. And yes Most transaxles bolt directly to the engine. Also there are some front engined cars that have transaxles. Alfa Romeo Milano, the Alfa 75 outside the U.S. had a transaxle. Flywheel, clutch, tranny, diff all in the same case, connected to the engine by a driveshaft that always spun. Another car is the Porsche 944, front engined, rear transaxle. C5 as well. Basically the driveshaft is always spinning in these cars, even in neutral.

The C5 is not transaxle, transaxle's are what porsche's, caddilac CTSV's, ford GT's, and others use where the tranny is mounted under the engine and drives the wheels directly on the outside of the engine. The C5 is a rear mounted tranny that is attached to the differential, aka Dana 36 in most stock cases but with a few factory exceptions.
-
Its actaully from a C4 so bigpimpcity you are correct. The tranny is attached to the rearend on a C5 while on a C4 the tranny is at the traditional place, the engine. One huge clue is he said he used a 99 camaro t56 meaning its a traditional front mount tranny so it cannot be the rear mount C5 t56 which is used on 97+ vettes. The other major clue is there's nothing attached to the rear other than a drive shaft in the video. The fab work to the body and back seats is ridiculous to install the C5.

Now I understand why these cars are so popular.
They have a simple construction in addition to having nice clean lines.
Their design makes modifying them easier.
What rearend and suspension is that, c4?

It is from a C5.
