I found this website with great instructions for rooting the Atrix. I do not know if this works on all models of the Atrix.

Motorola Atrix - RootzWiki http://j.mp/wqlVfN

I hope it works out for you. Let us know if This root method works and what version firmware you tried it on. Also if you tried the unlock bootloader method too.

Drivers are located on the Motorola Website but here is a link:

http://j.mp/xEl6uo

Links may change so there is the Download Section on the Motorola Site:
USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA http://j.mp/xoOLTh

To paste lines in the Command Prompt, you just have to right-click on the window title and navigate to Edit-Paste... That's it! - Thanks to YouTube user ricksilverio for the info!

  • My phone is 2.3.6

I'm assuming I have to downgrade first?

  • @TrevorCakes There is an updated root method for 2.3.6 but I don't have this phone anymore so I can not make a video on it. sorry. the site that has it is digitaltweaker.

  • how do you know it worked?

the command prompt said success but is there a way to test my phone and see if im done?

  • @Bossmanhairston If there is a new app in your app drawer called Super User, then it should have worked fine. I have a couple of videos on using rooted apps. You can check them out and try them on your phone. Thanks for watching!
