Team 3: Track Suit Ninjas
PharmHand: the Automated Pill Dispenser

Team Members: Benjamin Burnett, James Jay, Teddy Lo, Thomas McGovern, Yong Zhang
Customer: Ilya Tatar (Sun)

People are forgetful. When it comes to taking medication, it is crucial that one remembers to take his or her pills on-time. Our project, the automated pill dispenser, takes charge of reminding a patient when to take his or her pills. A caretaker loads the device with a variety of pills and uses an innovative, web-based interface to control the dispenser remotely. The pill dispenser itself has an internet connection and is plugged into a wall outlet to power the display, alarm, internal motors, and circuitry, including a backup battery. When it is time to take a pill, a volume-adjustable alarm goes off alongside a visual alert from the display, and all appropriate pills are dispensed at the push of a button. The dispenser also keeps a log of all events (i.e. when a pill is dispensed or missed, power failure, etc.).
