I just got the book yesterday... I really want to do animation, its been a lifelong dream of mine.... but I am just going to have to teach myself. I know the basics but for some odd reason its like Im scared to try...... I need some confidence I guess... you guys wish me luck :)

i read the book and didn't understand half of it. to be honest, i learned the most about animation from watching youtube videos, guess im a audio-visual learner cause nothing from the book was sinking in

I'd rather listen to music when I plan out a scene and just needs some mindless work, like lip syncing or something.

I was referring to My Little Pony as a good example of half-animation. Never did I say it wasn't tweened, or even remotely suggest it.

Neither did I mention Flash as a bad program. It's convenient and works well for frame-by-frame animation. I'm just pointing out the fact that it's being abused as a way to create low budget animation for almost all kids shows nowadays. Its "tweening" features are misused to a great extent.

Do you mean tweening? You do realize that My Little Pony is tweened, right? A process which, by your standards, is "half-animated"? He even says later that no matter what medium you use to animate, you should use the same basic principles he teaches- that's the whole POINT of the lecture! To me able to animate your own way by your own means and have quality results. HE'S TALKING TO BLUESKY ANIMATORS FOR CHISTS SAKE you're a bias idiot who obviously hasn't learned anything from him- Flash is fine

Because they're all doing pretty shitty animations in flash. Half-animation really never should have gotten to be a thing. I can't watch all of these shitty animated cartoons today because they all use flash! Some do it relatively well like My Little Pony, but christ there's so many that just can't do it right.

When I learned this I was like "Oh God... How am I going to ween myself from music while I draw?" I'm currently in that process of weening myself from music while I draw.
