  • Yeah you are right in the Rake being controlled or "set" by the shroud chain plates. We have two settings for our shrouds in the chain plates. One for light/ two trapezing and starting to ease travellar conditions. And one hole down from that for when we are really looking to de-power. As these two ranges are so big we fine tune our mast rake with jib halyard tension so that we are carrying the perfect amount of tension for the conditions.

    A marking on your halyard with a pen is essential.

  • Great vid James. Setting up these boats for best performance is an art. I picked up a couple of tricks from your video.

    You mention mast rake is controlled by the Jib halyard tension. I usually think of it as being controlled by the hole the shroudsare on in the their chain plate.
