Bashu, the Little Stranger is a touching, thought-provoking 1986 Iranian movie directed by Bahram Beizai. The story is about a young boy named Bashu from Khuzestan province, in the south of Iran, during the Iran--Iraq War. His parents are killed in a bombing raid on his home village and he escapes on a cargo truck to the north. He finds refuge on the farm of a Gilaki woman, Na'i, who has two young children of her own. Bashu speaks Arabic, while Na'i and her children speak Gilaki. But inspite of the language barrier, color difference Nai raises bashu as her own child.
