  • From Jim Oddy race car

  • Sorry but the former Oddy Opel (run as the God of Hell Fire by Frank) met its demise at Bowling Green-NHRA Sportsnationals in 1976.

  • We NEED MORE!!!!!!

    Awesome....

  • Absolutely THE coolest, most awesome comp eliminator car of ALL time. Period!! I was too young to see the ones that came before, Oddy, Jr. Thompson, etc... but I'll NEVER forget this car. I grew up with pictures of it on my wall. Thanks for putting this up for all to see Dawn!

  • How did i only just find this now. Cool seeing video. Who's that backing the car up at 2.30?

  • You must have been sitting really close to us on the west side of the track. Love comp eliminator, Best engine SOUND! Like how he revs it after his burnout. Looks Good, Sounds Good, RUNS Good! Thank You for posting! My FAVORITE Video on YOU-TUBE! MAN I miss those days.

  • Thats a sweet looking machine. Love to have that in my driveway lol!!

  • I have only seen photos of this car before.

This is the first film footage I have seen of it.

The Opel GT body style was an attempt to create a more aerodynamic style rather than the traditional Hot Rod body style used in the Altered class.

  • god i enjoyed those days! :)

  • remember seeing this beautiful beast at Norwalk a bunch of times as a kid-one of my all time fav cars. One of the best looking cars ever on a dragstrip!

  • Thanks for posting this video. I grew up near Frank and he brought this car to my school one day as a presentation for my machine shop class. He sayed up most of the night before putting the motor back together so that he could start and run the car for the students in my class. The car was spotless and sounded absolutely awesome inside our shop. He spent over an hour with us that day showing us everything in the car and explaining how he built it. It was an unforgetable experience and he great.

  • I remember seeing this car race in 1985 at the Keystone Nationals.

  • my brother and I used to race C/D and ran against Frank a time or two.Coolest car in comp, except maybe Danny townsends A/A. Franks car was also spotless and could have won best appearing at any race.

  • Thanks for the correction
