GH 11/11/11 Shawn and Carly - Veteran's day

At Kelly's, Shawn makes a call and tells someone he's thinking of them and has a package to deliver. Carly bursts in wanting to talk to Shawn, but he tells her today is not about her. When Carly continues to ramble on, a solemn Shawn reminds her it's Veterans Day. She admits she didn't think about it and asks who the package is for. He responds it's for the family of a marine who died in the friendly fire incident. He explains he writes and sends things to the family as often as he can. Carly thinks it's an amazing thing for him to do, but Shawn doesn't have a choice because he can't forget. He lives with it every day and says no one should have to grow up without a father. Carly notes it sounds like he's talking from experience and assumes his dad died when he was a kid. Shawn confirms it, adding that he watched him get shot by a gang member at a corner store while they were buying milk. Shawn gets uncomfortable talking about personal things, but Carly reminds him they all need someone. Shawn hangs a flag for everyone who has been on duty and left their kids at home. Carly pours them a glass of milk in honor of the tradition Shawn shared with his father. Carly tells him it's an honor to know someone like him and to remember the military. Shawn sincerely thanks her.

@TQEE75 The glass of milk was wonderful. Carly could have done that to get closer to Shawn, but she did it because she knew it would mean a lot to him. The woman is quick on her feet, and she is so good at being there when it counts. Even if Carly does not like someone, she helps them when they are in need. She is a rock.

As for Sharly, I am more mesmerized with them with each passing eppy. They are visually stunning, and a refreshing pair for the show. Can't wait for them to give in!

I love these two together. GH really did a good job saluting Veteran's Day. Carly has always been my favorite character and I thought no one could replace Sarah Brown but I was wrong. Laura Wright is the perfect Carly. The chemistry LW has with SB is amazing and HOT, HOT, HOT.

Oh,the glass of milk scene at the end was priceless.

Carly wants her chocolate thunder and she's not going to stop until she gets him. I can't wait until these two give in to one another.

Shawn and Carly is really making me fall back in love with Carly as a character again...their relationship isn't about lies, manipulation, trashy sex, etc...it's about honest interaction...this has to be my favorite Carly scene since LW took over the role...and the toast at the end was so wonderful and selfless...GH did a terrific job honoring Veterans Day

If you guys notice, this is the first honest relationship from the beginning for Carly. With Jax she was scheming to keep Nik's baby. Shawn is showing her a new way. Love it. I would have loved it even more if Carly shared the story about her father dying in front of her. But I understand. This was about SHAWN.
