David Draiman said: "'The Animal' was written just from a much more tongue-in-cheek perspective. It's about a werewolf, a man who becomes a beast in the light of the moon and who enjoys it, who likes the power, who relishes it. Obviously not to be taken literally. I'm a big fan of the Underworld series -- that's kind of where it came from."
