This is bullshit. Sure, prove you have balls, join me at martial arts, rock climbing or maybe try free running. Half the time these guys are relying on drivers to stomp on their brakes and risk accidents and/or injury to themselves or pedestrians. As a urban cyclist it's hard for me to say, but may you get doored.

You should watch the movie. Yeah, what they do is dangerous, but they actually rely more on the traffic carrying on as if they weren't there. When drivers freak out and start slamming on brakes, that's when accidents happen. These guys are incredibly skilled riders, they read traffic and ride in gaps - it's not a fluke that they're still alive.

If you're moving past cars in motion, doors are not likely to be opened - that's only for stationary vehicles. Paradoxically, this sort of behaviour make mean you're less prone to "dooring". As noted in the movie, it may seem chaotic, but there's a "rhythm" to the cars - and you'd note when they've stopped for doors to be opened.

Still, would be interesting to know what the stats are for serious accidents for this class of cyclists, and alley cat races in particular.
