Also in Japan, openly exposing your identity is kind of the equivalent of trying to grab attention to yourself. In a land that values modesty, showing your face in your video wouldn't be the best idea.

As far as I know, because of their huge population, they wear masks to protect themselves from diseases, and to protect others if they've caught a cold or something. And people who wear them are respected, and I respect that as well. I mean, that's how I heard, read, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
