  • To everyone complaining about the sing-a-long, I was here...at first, everyone was very quiet, a few songs in, he was encouraging singing along/humming for the instrumental parts....not to mention, this was the 2nd encore (seemed unplanned, as the house lights/music were already up, and he wasn't using the mic), several people left, and everyone gathered around in a very campfire/"Kumbaya" kind of moment that can't be explained unless experienced than and there...was really special and amazing

  • He's a wizard or something.

  • I disliked this video because it's not longer

  • what a great crowd.. and need to move to that town

  • I'll stab the first person to dislike this

  • Everyone singing along is half the brilliance of this video. Jeff's always asking for people to sing along, he doesn't like being alienated from the audience. At the show I went to he had the crew lower the stage lights so he could see the audience. Having his fans sing along to his songs probably makes him feel so great. I love this video for that.

  • Whats the guitar called?

  • @dpspac333 I wouldn't necessarily say Jeff Mangum is a totally typical indie hipster. He doesn't seem to be super-concerned with fashion in the late 90s. And in his lyrics you see examples of where his views diverge from the typical indie hipster, like where he sings of his dislike of casual sex in "Song Against Sex" or his (albeit non-mainstream) love of Jesus in "King of Carrot Flowers". I don't think he's the best musician ever, but I think NMH was more than a typical some indie band.

  • @4:13 i can hear someone clapping the start of "the fool" :D

right on, i was doing it too.

  • @clearview1 See, I thought he was pissed too, but its just these emotional Indie Rocker guys, you can't tell what they are thinking! I too just learned he encourages the sing a long thing. I'd be a little ticked, cuz I listened to him for years not knowing if it was one guy or ten guys, what they looked like, if they even performed live - then to hear him actually sing this stuff in person and have a room full of people do the in the shower stle concert over him - UGH!

  • @featherheadsify Yeah, so joyful...because he just made four grand, and wouldn't have to work an odd job for another month...Oh, you are so precious, in your twenties, but you'll be thirty soon, perhaps one of his "holy" songs will usher you into that important decade of your life, a thirty-something, it will be so precious, will your lover trace the notches in your spine, or you his/hers? Ahem: Pop is NOT that important.

  • @ginovarisano well, in that case, what can you say? There's this video of Pete Dougherty singing an acoustic/solo version of "Cant Stand Me Now" and you can't even hear him for the Chorus of voices singing over him, and he looks a little annoyed as he tries to do his solo thing as he is just drowned out. Its like someone finishing a punchline to a joke for you, sort of puts you out. I personally hate it when people get so emotional in public. Its just music, save the sentimentality for alone.
