I must have seen close to a dozen documentaries and movies about Stalingrad, numerous books, but THIS movie gives the best sense of how truly awful and epic it was. 6 out of 5 STARS!!!

my great father fought on Italian partisan bands and he told me the same, and even that most atrocities were made by partisans for privates vengeances or even by communists agents against others resistant in Germans uniforms captured in Russia to strengthens the communist grip on Italy. Even the American memo given to soldiers for D-day told them to behave with civilians as good as the Germans soldiers done.. It means a lott.

Belgians resitents had brawl with US soldiers because of rapes etc....

Remember that during the french campaign the allied had to fire on partisans groups who came to kill prisoners and Americans guards too if they tried to stand on their ways. I personally know families of french resistants who admitted that they didn't fought because the Germans were bad but because they didn't want their old foes to occupy their country, that they were really correct persons and that the bars in Paris where the soldiers went were always full of girls because of their correctness

at oradour the church exploded because it was full of partisans explosives during the firefight between Germans and partisans hidden in the tower the and children and women were put in to protect them during the search of the village. the Germans found there an ambulance withe soldiers and doctors burned alive inside and dead bodies defecated on.

Germans were looking for missing comrades and found this mess. but it was easier to accuse Germans of atrocities than to admit theirs like for katynn

@ClaireetReid There were brave Germans (Dietrich Bonhoeffer for example). I admire the German people very much. Sadly they became enslaved to evil and sensible Germans could not protest. Sadly, there were many children and women killed by the SS and the Wermacht in Eastern Europe. Also in France Oradour Sur Glan, for example. Von Stauffenberg should have succeeded in July 1944 and many many people would have lived. I admire the German soldier; they were brave and loyal.

stop with all these bullshit stories. facts are that every women in eastern lands used to say better Germans than Russians. there were no childrens executions. Germans soldiers were soldiers like others and had a lot more to do than hunting childrens and womens to save theirs own lifes. you just want a world black and white so the germans are all what there is of worse and others all what is better. Enough! the world is not like this and you are only a stupid child in your mind.

Interesting movie. It is sad that brave soldiers died and even more sad they enslaved themselves to a maniac madman (AH), who corrupted the German people. Pity they killed so many Russian men, women and children too (something that the film avoids, but not surprising as many Germans were complicit in child murder).

thank you very much for uploading the whole movie. It was a very interesting film which gave a good historical detail of the battle. Interesting to have watched both the 1959 and 1993 version.
