The Kimkins diet scandal received national exposure for the first time ever on FOX-TV's "The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet" on Monday, November 12, 2007.
Representing Kimkins was Jeannie Baitinger, the public relations spokesperson for the diet, and she made some rather stunning admissions about the weight loss scam her boss Heidi Diaz has been perpetrating.
On the other side of the debate was Christin Sherburne and Deni Huttula, both of whom appeared in WOMAN'S WORLD magazine as Kimkins weight loss success stories. But they no longer subscribe to this dangerous diet that Christin describes as "Atkins meets anorexia."
You can learn more about Christin and her continuing weight loss journey at her blog:

well lowcarbman, i can see that you consider yourself to be an authority on this subject, so i won't argue with you. however i will disagree with you. low carbing and also watching calories and fat works for me. i do the regular kimkins, never have done the bootcamp and never will. by the way, i own every book ever written by dr atkins, and know the diet very well. however i think that the regular kimkins version of low carbing works best for me. i am not starving and i am losing weight.
I'm certainly no authority on the subject, but after losing 180 pounds and keeping it off on the Atkins diet for five years, I do know a few things about the low-carb lifestyle. I'm very happy to hear about your weight loss success. But a genuine Atkins-styled low-carb diet is high in fat, moderate in protein, and low in carbohydrates. This is in sharp contrast to what that scam artist Heidi Diaz came up with her Kimkins diet which is nothing more than low-fat, low-carb. That doesn't work.
kimkins is basically the old low carb atkins diet, except you also watch calories. it is easy to abuse it and starve yourself since it suppresses your appitite and you don't get hungrey anymore. i have last about 45 lbs on kimkins and keep calories to about 1200 a day. as far as heidi diaz aka kimmer. well yes she has a weight problem. its a case of someone who cannot follow their own good advice. if you go to the kimkins website, you will see there is nothing wrong with this diet.
Actually the Kimkins diet is not even close to being the original Atkins diet. At no phase of the 1971 version of Atkins do you limit your fat intake at all whereas with Kimkins you do. Sure, you cut your carbs, but you're encouraged to eat LEAN sources of protein--something Dr. Atkins NEVER EVER EVER EVER called for. I'm glad Kimkins works for you gothicprincess52, but the bottom line is a low-fat, low-carb, low-calorie diet like the one Heidi Diaz created out of thin air will fail most.
The diet was created by a morbidly obese scam artist with no medical backing...if you want to ruin your weight and health, then go ahead. But there are better ways.
Do your own research as well people. There's plenty of ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It's possible to eat fats & still maintain a body weight. Fats are like oxygen, you can't live without (some of) them. See my video
It's my opinion that all low carb diets that are not Atkins are just rip offs. They tweak a couple of things and say they are different. Just my 2 cents.
its their own fault for following it but can you blame them for being rather mad that someone was being a total hypocrite and telling women to do something unhealthy to lose weight when they couldn't even do it?
