@ViRGiNsOnLY He already had an apprentice and Anakin wasn't motivated to join the dark side yet. He needed a Sith with the clones to take the Jedi Temple.

@ViRGiNsOnLY He needed Anakin because he was powerful. He didn't do it then because it was to early. Thats why he wanted to do it right when the droid army began to fall.

Because the Jedi would crush the army of order 66.
Anakin kills all the hope of the Jedi. Younglings etc.

There were still too many Jedi and he didn't have enough power voted to him by the Senate to declare himself Emperor.

This is one of my favorite tracks in the CD, too bad my favorite part in the music in the movie isn't included in the movie- Padme's Funeral leading into Vader on the Executor, at the end of the movie.
