I modified a canoe with two electric trolling motors that are controlled with a wii nunchuck via custom software on an arduino board. Robot servos and a battle bot motor driver control direction and speed. Two golf cart batteries allow for about 6 - 8 hours of cruising with a top speed of 4 miles per hour. • Those batteries weigh over 120 pounds, so even in the middle, they are significant ballast. Also, they are slightly forward of center for a single passenger. Normally there are two of us. Also, the motor setup weighs only about 30 - 35 lbs. So its not as much of a weight as it might seem.
